BISAK Primary

A warm welcome to you all from the Primary School team at BISAK.

The Primary School is organised into three departments:

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) – Pre-School and Reception classes.
Key Stage 1 (KS1) – Years 1 and 2.
Key Stage 2 (KS2) – Year 3 to Year 6.

Each Year group has three classes.

Our belief in the Primary School is that every child is a unique individual who needs a happy, secure, caring and stimulating environment in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially. It is our role to encourage each child to have a positive self image, to become a confident and responsible person who is capable of making independent decisions through varied learning experiences, not only in the context of the school, but as essential skills for their life long experiences.

We embrace and nurture learning as a focal point and our aim is to instil a love of learning which will remain with the children throughout their lives. We believe all children can succeed in their learning; that they are all entitled to high academic excellence, learning within a culture that recognises each individual’s abilities and which enables all to achieve to their full potential and have a sense of worth.

High quality teaching and effective learning is delivered through a broad and balanced curriculum. In the EYFS we use the Early Years Framework and in Years 1-6 we compliment the British National Curriculum with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). The IPC element enables children to be taught through cross-curricular, child friendly topics that connect learning across the subject areas. This combined curriculum is a purposeful, inquiry-based programme which ensures both personalised learning and international mindedness.

A significant belief at BISAK is the development of the child as a global citizen. Our teaching and learning experiences reflect the ever changing global issues. Children learn from those around them and learning can be greatly enriched by an international context, understanding and appreciation. We believe in nurturing children as citizens for an international world and BISAK is a truly global community.

It is important for us to develop and foster strong home school partnerships so that parents are actively informed and understand the nature of what it means to learn so you too, are in a position to help and support the child cultivate a sense of worth and purpose, to feel capable and comfortable taking risks in their quest for success.

We look forward to you joining us in the Primary School.
