 Mr Bardi's Class VLE

 Mrs Skyme's Class as worksheet

Wednesday - 20/11/2013

Worksheet1, Worksheet2, Slide

Mr Lavery's Class as folows:

Write their own poem about places ( with several verses using techniques taught).

I would like you to complete your own  poem about places. You should think of a place which means a lot to you and write a minimum of 3 verses. You can structure the poem as you wish, just ensure there are 3 verses.

Use some of the techniques you learnt about in class such as simile, metaphor, onomatopoeia and personification. Use your senses to help describe the place and try and make the poem as atmospheric as you can.

You could if you like write about an event like the recent extreme weather and focus on the devastation caused, however remember it’s still poetry about “places’.

Spend at least 2 hours, which would be 2 lessons doing this and include relevant images to enhance meaning. Write it up on computer and either print it or save it to be printed in school.

Mrs Knox' Class as Follows:

Exotic Island Brochure

Individuals within the groups must continue with research work on their allocated pages. Group Leaders, where possible, to monitor progress of members

This should continue until we are back to School.

Mr William's Class as follows:

Accelerated Reading Programme: 20 mins reading

Theme from the Play - The Tempest.
Write a short account containing 2 paragraphs, based on the fact that you have been shipwrecked and washed ashore.

Paragraph 1,
You are now on a very strange island and in need of food, water and shelter. How will you and your fellow passengers survive?

Paragraph 2,
You and your companions see three strangers approaching you in the distance. What will you do next?

Bring the work to our next lesson.

20 mins private reading - for the school Acc. Reading Programme.

Shakespeare wrote 3 types of play, tragedies, comedies and histories. The Tempest is a comedy, but that doesn't mean the whole thing is meant to be funny. Much of the play is light- hearted though, and has a happy ending.

 Task 1

Create a cartoon sketch containing 4 scenes which show comic incidents involving characters from the play (see your hand-out for notes on the characters). Use speech bubbles and /or write notes beneath the drawings to help explain to the reader the contents of your sketch.

ICT

The recent rain has caused a number of problems with our ICT systems. The move in the  last number of years to a completely ICT based world has shown how we can rely too much on computers.

If the electricity or telecommunications links go down then the entire system is useles - for example  Traffic Lights in Khobar

In the past we didn't have such a reliance on IT, we used  phone calls instead of emails, man power instead of  robotics.

Choose an aspect of modern life such as Business, Factories, Banking or Communication and write how we functioned before ICT.

Remember to inclide references to any internet research , headers/footers etc.
