Prep

BISAK offers a well-rounded education that follows the English National Curriculum. This is modified for our international setting.

We place a strong emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy. Subjects may be taught discretely or within integrated themes. The focus in our classrooms is active and independent learning. Our BISAK Values and Principles of Teaching and Learning underpin our high-quality provision by dedicated teaching and support staff.

Cross-curriculum links make learning relevant to the children and prepare them for developing a more autonomous approach to learning. We set our children challenging but attainable targets supported by high quality teaching and resources. They leave Upper Prep equipped with the knowledge, skills, enthusiasm and love of learning that will ensure their continued success as they move to Senior School.

The curriculum is enriched by theme days, school visits and visiting speakers.

BISAK Curriculum

Our teachers and learning assistants are passionate about and dedicated to providing the best for every individual to enhance their personal, social, emotional and academic skills. At BISAK we pride ourselves on ensuring that our teaching is up to date and follows educational research and best practice in the UK. Through our mission: ‘Let there be peace on earth’, and our BISAK values in an international environment, we aim to inspire everyone to be positive global citizens by reflecting upon equality, community service and peace.

Prep Comprises

  • Lower Prep (Lower KS2) Pupils aged 7 to 9 years old (Year 3 to Year 4)
  • Upper Prep (Upper KS2) Pupils aged 9 to 11 years old (Year 5 to Year 6)
Year 3 to 6

Life in BISAK Upper and Lower Prep is engaging, inspiring, exciting and fun! Located in their own areas with shared workspaces and small class sizes, it is a natural progression from Upper Pre- Prep and provides an efficient transition into the Senior School. Through input from pupils and staff from the Senior School, pupils develop interdependence and responsibility. Following on from Year 2, pupils’ thinking skills are encouraged though independent leaning and high academic standards within a caring environment. Pupils feel secure and enthusiastically pursue new areas of discovery and learning.

Class teachers may teach topic-led, cross-curricular lessons. Our pupils also have access to specialist teachers in PE, Music, Art, Spanish and Arabic. Our focus is on encouraging the pupils to become independent learners.

Through having high expectations for learning and behaviour, we encourage pupils to become role models for the younger children. There are a number of leadership roles in Years 5 and 6 that enable pupils to learn how to lead and manage others, develop entrepreneurial skills and consider those who are less fortunate.
